Media Player and MPG files

Since I installed WMP9 I cannot play any MPG file from either mail or from
the disk I continually get the error.

0xC00D1199: Cannot play the file

I cannot play these files and it used to do this before I installed WMP9 I
have tried to uninstall WMP9 but No way, It seems that once it is in that's
it.

Help will be appreciated.
 
If these are mpeg2 files, you may need to reinstall your DVD playback
software as sometimes the WMP9 install can cause problems with the codecs...
