Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance

I have installed MW4 Vengeance, and applied the version 3.0 patch.

It launches ok, however when I try to load a mission, the screen just keeps
flickering and clicking like it does when you change a display setting in
windows.

I have tried running it in compatility mode for both win98 and windows 2000,
same results.

I am running Windows XP Pro, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, Soundblaster Audigy2 zs,
and 1gb pc3200 ddr ram.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
