Black and White

Is Black and White supposed to run on Windows XP? B/C I
cannot get it to at all. My computer is brand new as in I
just got it a few days ago. Dell Dimension.
Specs: 3.0 GHz Pentium 4. ATi Radeon 9800 w/ 128MB. 512MB
PC3200 DDR SDRAM. Intel 875 Mobo (I assume). 250GB HD.
Audigy Sound Card. I guess that is enough information.

It does run on XP, if you have the latest patch (1.10, I believe it was.)
Don't have the game any more, found it exceedingly boring... but it does
run...

Yes, my son plays B&W on windows XP, BUT...
only works in administrator user. Limited user reports
DirectX not found + another error.

Does anyone know how to enable DirectX for limited users?

Changing some permissions (of folders containing Direct X
files) seems to have enabled B&W in limted user, but does
anyone know exactly which permissions are the important
ones? I may have given limited user more access than
necessary.

Depends on which version of Windows XP you're running, Steve. Windows XP
protects the system from Limited accounts making changes to the hard drive.
That's the nature of the best to keep the system running when little hands
decide to push the Delete key.
