sry forgot to ask,

can i connect a usb external hard drive to my 2wire gate way and share it
over my home network instead of getting a server and all that? And can i
connect my printer to my wireless network without having to connect it to a
computer and leave in running? If so how could i do this stuff?

Only if the 2wire gate way has built-in support for sharing an
external USB drive.

There are NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices that can connect
directly to a network and provide shared storage to multiple
computers.
And can i
connect my printer to my wireless network without having to connect it to a
computer and leave in running? If so how could i do this stuff?

Yes, you can. Get a wired or wireless print server, configure it to
access your network, and connect the printer to it.
