MDATA.DAT

This error message MDATA.DAT keeps coming up when I start
my other computer and it won't let me get on line, or play
hearts. As you can see I am on my other computer. The
other one has XP home edition.
Thanks,
Mike

Actually, Mike, no we can't "see" you're on a different computer! ;-)
However, something is starting on your other computer that is calling
the mdata.dat file and not finding it. You need to go to Start>Run and
type "msconfig" without the quotes. Look at the Startup tab and see if
you can find the culprit - because we can't see your computer from
here, you'll have to Sherlock which item is the right one. Here's a
place to look up the names of things you find in Startup:

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm

Uncheck the box next to the suspect, click Apply and OK. Now, as an
additional precaution, in case you haven't already done so, 1) scan
with current antivirus ("current" means a version not earlier than 2002
but using updated virus definitions); and 2) remove spyware with Spybot
Search & Destroy (www.security.kolla.de) and Ad-aware
(www.lavasoftusa.com). Be sure to update these programs before running,
and it is a good idea to do virus/spyware scans in Safe Mode.

Post back with more details if you need more help.
