Yes that is exactly what I needed. From what I can tell all your dlls are at the same version except the sql one which is
normal. I have MDAC 2.5 SP2 and yours SP3 looks ok...

The Microsoft Release Manifest for SP3 lists is consistent with what you have. .

You are at SP4 in Windows 2000? I would like you to try installing MDAC 2.6 SP1 Refresh . You really should
apply MDAC versions one at a time and in ascending order. And to tell you the truth installing an application that
requires the higher MDAC versions is always best. MSDE 2000 will upgrade you to MDAC 2.6 by default. And the
Service Packs for that application will put you just at where you want to be in Windows 2000. You really shouldn't go
any higher than 2.7 in Windows 2000. You can if you want but the benefit of doing so is miniscule and the issues aren't.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/231943/EN-US/

Well either the documentation has not been updated for Windows 2000 SP4 or there was no MDAC upgrade in that
Service Pack which looks mighty suspicious given that every other SP upgraded MDAC in Windows 2000.

I believe I have SP4. I will recheck. I will try to upgrade to 2.6 and then
2.7. I have to go to 2.8, because I need to install Quickbooks pro 2005 and
it automatically installs, but won't finish install until this can be
completed.

OK but let me tell you something. MDAC can be redistributed that means if an application requires a certain version of
MDAC by rights it should be included in the installer for that application. The installer can check to make sure MDAC
is at the required level and if not install the version it needs. All this really does is increase the size of the application
install by about 6MB which really shouldn't matter if they provide the install media such as a CD-ROM.

Quickbooks Pro wants MDAC 2.8 and it is not providing that version. That is a poor installer. But if that's the way it is
then Oh well. Be sure it is compatible with Windows 2000. Looks to be made for Windows XP. But 2.8 should go
into Windows 2000 in any case. Just start from 2.6 SP1 Refresh and build up.

I guess I must not have been clear. Quickbooks pro 2005 has mdac 2.8 on the
install, but it gives the error I originally put in this post. I am unable
to get beyond that error and Quickbooks support says it is an issue with
microsoft. I will try what you said to go through all of the mdac version
hopefully this will allow me to install 2.8. Thanks

Ah OK I see now the installation of MDAC 2.8 is failing from their application. You can always install the standalone
MDAC 2.8 from Microsoft and then try Quckbooks install again. If their installer works as it should with MDAC 2,8
installed that part of the installation should bypass. Microsoft says that when installing MDAC certain services like SQL
and IISAdim should first be stopped. Often what happens is when installing MDAC it will recognize certain services
running and tell you that if you don't shut them down, a reboot will be necessary. In any case you should ALWAYS
reboot after installing MDAC so the message is kind of superfluous. Just proceed.
