XP SP2: MDAC 2.8 SP1 not installed

P

Pieter

Hi,

I have a windows XP with SP2 installed. But when I look to my MDAC Settings,
I see that MDAC 2.8 SP1 (version 2.81.1117.6) which is normally included in
the XP SP2 is not installed, but version MDAC 2.8 (2.81.1117.0).

The problem is that I can't find a setup to install just MDAC 2.8 SP1 for
XP, you have to install the whole XP SP2 to get it.

Any ideas to get aroudn this problem? Is there somewhere a restributable for
MDAC 2.8 SP1 for XP?

Thansk a lot in advance,

Pieter

Well, that's jsut hte problem!!
When you go on thosep ages, and want to download MDAC 2.8 SP:, you can read
"Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000; Windows 98; Windows ME; Windows
NT"... and not XP!!

So what I am looking for is a way to install MDAC 2.8 SP1 on a Windows XP
SP2!

Overview
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 SP1 contains core Data Access
components such as the Microsoft SQL ServerT OLE DB provider and ODBC
driver. This redistributable installer for the MDAC 2.8 SP1 release installs
the same Data Access components as Microsoft Windows XP SP2.

Yes indeed. But XP SP2 is alreaddy isntalled... But I have 2.8 and not 2.8
SP1.

So my question is: are there any other ways to isntall MDAC 2.8 SP1 without
having to re-install the whole XP SP2?

It does on my W2000 and NT system, but not on my XP-systems!
It begins extracting the MDAC-package; but at the end of the extracting is
gives an error: "Fatal Setup Error" - "This setup does not support
installing on this operating system"...
