How are you attempting the uninstall? The McAfee website would have
complete removal instructions for their products. You may have to uninstall
the anti-virus component of the McAfee suite first before uninstalling the
suite itself.

Before you install Norton, you should be aware that there are totally free
alternatives to both Norton and McAfee software. If you go to
www.grisoft.com you will find AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. It is top rated
in such publications as PC World, Computer Shopper Magazine and PC Magazine.
For complete system protection you could use Zone Alarm Free Edition for
your firewall, AVG Anti-Virus for virus protection, Spybot Search & Destroy
and AdAware Personal SE for spyware and adware protection. These are all
completely free of charge and outstanding choices for system security.
