McAfee Virusscan Interferes with Remote Desktop

The default port for Remote Desktop is 3389.
For a complicated set of reasons, my office PC
is behind a router with access on port 1026.
I have edited the registry to list this port for
Remote Desktop and I have opened a new
TCP port. We have McAfee Virusscan 8.0i p_11
available for all machines on our network, but
when the Virusscan is running, Remote Desktop
does not work. If the Virusscan product is removed,
then Remote Desktop works just fine.
The problem seems buried deep inside McAfee.
Does anybody have any ideas on a work around?
Of courese, the idea for the moment is just to
disable the anti-virus software, but this is hardly
a good longer-range solution.
