McAfee Anti-virus and Windows Live Mail

Hi:

I have been reading a few posts and wondered about the anti-virus email
scanning function causing trouble in Windows Mail. I am curious what does
the problem stem from and what function causes the problem. This is the
only machine that uses Windows Mail and I have had McAfee 10-1 protection
with email scanning enabled for over a year now without any complications.
Just curious.

The problem with antivirus email scanning is pretty well explained here:

That article was initially written for OE, but most of it applies to
Windows Mail as well. As long as your AV doesn't find any viruses,
it won't do any damage to the email database. However, it can
still cause time-outs with the server, especially when sending a big
attachment.
