Hi all, my McAfee Total Protection says my comp is secure and no action is required. But I keep getting windows security alerts that my comp is infected. Not very comp literate here so would appreciate any ideas, many thanks.

Welcome. :)

In my opinion Mcafee is really quite poor, sorry to say but there are free anti virus programs that are better. :)

You should try running Trendmicro Housecall: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/

Download and run the version for your PC (32 bit or 64 bit)
*Right click the 'My Computer' icon on the desktop and go to properties to check which version your running if your unsure.

Let it update and let it do its thing. :)

Been using the Security essentials with my new Win 7 install and it all seems good so far, so a thumbs up from me! :thumb:

I do hear Intel, of all people, will shortly be acquring McCaffee which if they do may actually make it a worthwhile product.

Or then again it may not... ;)
