What would really help Microsoft's image would be just a little honesty
here. If they actually had the character to be honest with people and just
say "we're sorry about Vista, we know we missed the mark big time with this
release" and maybe offer a free upgrade to their next OS or a refund even.
Honesty is actually appreciated by consumers more than big business seems to
know.
Speaking of honesty and next Windows releases, I wonder why Microsoft hasn't
caught on to the seemingly hugely popular trend of releasing stable cores
with add-ons like Firefox did pre-release 3.0 and Maxthon does and Linux
distros commpnly do and a whole host of other wildly popular software
releases?
I would gladly pay for a stripped down, stable as hell version of the next
Windows OS that allowed me to get whatever add-ons I wanted from Microsoft
online for free or even a fee per add-on. I think that would be an awesome
OS - Like Linux....but not.
It would be faster, maybe a little more stable and would let me easily
customize Windows to be my Windows. It wouldn't hurt that downloading the
next OS would be faster and cost Microsoft less either. Plug-ins would
become synonymous with applications and people would get used to paying for
MS software and add-ons online.
