I need to restore my system. The instruction says" install Windows XP service
pack 1 or greater"
I inserted my service pack and got the reply "that the version of Wimdows on
your computer is newer than the version on the CD.
If you delete the newer version on the computer, files and settings cannot
be recovered"
So what do I do?

You make a slipstreamed install disk with your original install media
and Service Pack 2.

I don't understand what your question has to do with Maxtor One Touch
though.

Try slipstreaming using your copy of XP by integrating SP2 into it. Don't
bother integrating SP1 just go with SP2. Follow the instructions here
