I need to restore my system. The instruction says" install Windows XP service
pack 1 or greater"
I inserted my service pack and got the reply "that the version of Wimdows on
your computer is newer than the version on the CD.
If you delete the newer version on the computer, files and settings cannot
be recovered"
So what do I do?

You make a slipstreamed install disk with your original install media
and Service Pack 2.
