Maximising windows blocks out start bar

hi, i have a problem on my pc, im running Windows XP home and if a maximise
any type of window be it Internet explorer,windows explorer or even iTunes it
will maximise but it takes up my entire screen, completly blocking my start
bar from view, does anyone have any suggestions on how i can resolve this
issue ? thanks, spencer

To use the taskbar either press the Windows key (or Ctrl+Esc) or change the
taskbar settings to "keep taskbar on top of other windows." Keeping the
taskbar "always on top" will stop the maximized windows from covering it
up. To access the taskbar properties right click on it and select
Properties.
