Maxima for custom lists for Excel < 2007

Hi there,

Does somebody by chance know the limitations for custom lists
in Excel before 2007.
- Max. # of lists
- Max. # of items by list
- Max. # of characters by list
- Max. # of characters by list item
- Max. total # characters

I tried to find this information on Internet. It is said that Excel 2007
accepts max. 255 characters per list. In Excel 2003, I have custom
lists of approx. 340 characters.

I'll try to find out myself by trial (and error) but
a) if one of you knows ...
b) I hate to make rubbish lists in my single working Excel

I haven't seen the limits in the Excel documentation, but based on
testing, the limit is about 254 items, or 1818 characters, whichever it
hits first.
