Drop Down List Quicker Selection

We are using Excel 2007
We created a drop down list using the Data\Validation process, which works
fine.

When the arrow within a cell is clicked on to show the drop down list, how
can you quickly select one of the many names in the list just by typing the
first character of a name within the list.
At the moment, we have to scroll up and down the list to select a particular
name, which in itself isn't a problem, but slows down the process of finding
the right name.

Can the names within the list be alphabetically grouped when inputting the
first character from the keyboard, and speed up the selection.

I hope this makes sense!
Any help would be appreciated.

If you have enabled auto complete you can put the list in rows above the cell with data validation, then hide the rows with the list.
Poor man's way.

Moideen,

Here are the steps I took to test:
If you do not have free rows above your drop down list to contain each value, insert a row for each. In your example, you need 8 rows.
In the cells directly above your drop down list, insert your list.
Make sure autocomplete is enabled in Excel. In 2010 it is in options>advanced>Enable AutoComplete for cell values.
Hide the rows with your list values> select, right click, hide.

In your list, you should see Anil when you type 'a', but you will need to type Sahal to see Sahal because Sahad is in the list. I confirmed this in testing, I am in Excel 2010.
