max out cpu after printer install

I recently put together a barebone system with XP home, 2000 + AMD
processor, and 512 memory. It worked like a dream until I installed the
software for a HP psc 1110 all in one printer. As soon as I did, the
computer slowed to a crawl. The performance monitor shows the cpu running at
100% even when its just sitting at an idle.

Any ideas on what has got the processor tied up or where I can do to find
out.

Check HP's web site for a fix. I don't know about your particular
printer, but they have several driver packages in the all-in-one line
that are plagued with this problem - and the fixes aren't that great
either but they will release the CPU a few minutes after boot up at
least.

I have found I have the latest driver and saw no fixes offered. I even
scanned for viruses, thinking I picked one up but no dice. I have
uninstalled the software and the problem remains. Its not looking good.

I've had similar problems with HP all in one, Found that
XP operating system, the printer had to use a USB cable
to work correctly.
