MASTER SLIDE LAYOUT

How do I change the layout of the slide master? For example, if I'd
like side-by-side text placeholders rather than a single placeholder
beneath the title placeholder.

No need!

Just choose that layout in the slide layout pane. Animations, font etc will
follow master but in two columns.

When I have the slide master open, the layout pane is grayed out (not
selectable).

Hi Vox

The only way that I have been able to get it to work is to do it myself.
Resizing the original box, copy and pasting what I want two of then going
from there. Hope this helps

Interesting...I've tried that too, without success. It looks like it's
working, but when you clise the master view, the new placeholder(s)
don't work. In fact, the help specifically says that you cannot add
placeholders to the master slide. That's why I was hoping that the
layout would change it. No joy there either.

You don't choose layouts in Master view.

Insert a new slide in normal view and choose the layout you want for it there.
