Master Browsers

Hi there,

I'm having problems with a computer joined to the domain.
It won't load the profiles for the user, and also, I
can't ping or VNC into the computer by IP. In the event
viewer I received the following error:

Date: 08/12/03 Source: MRxSmb
Time: 12:48 Category: None
Type: Error EventID: 8003
User: N/A
Computer:<Server Name>

Description:
The master browser has received a server announcement
from the computer <User Computer Name> that believes that
it is the master browser for the domain on transport
NetBT_Tcpip_{2693B08C-BAB0-42B8-B94D. The master browser
is stopping or an election is being forced.

I'm guessing the two are related? Is that right? How do
I stop the user's computer from believing that it is the
master browser?

Thanks

Toby

What I've generally done is to disable the computer browser service on the
workstation. There are more sophisticated solutions, but this one works.

The two most likely are not related. If you can't ping
the machine, that needs to be your starting point.
Browsing has to do with filling the network neighborhood
list, has nothing to do with general connectivity.
