Not long ago i had a problem with my Master Browser on the network, i have
fixed it. But now i have some questions.
1. We have a network with a domain controller and exchange server. Is that
computer suppose to be the the Master browser?
2. What do i have to do so that it stays the master browser (did set it but
now another server took the role) ? Dose it have something to do with
setting the reg key's in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ->SYSTEM->CurrentControlSet->Services->Parameters

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\

IsDomainMaster

Possible settings for the value are:

True - Is the master browser
False - Is not the master browser
Auto: Resolve through browser elections (default)

Set it to False on the machine that you do not want taking the Master
Browser role.

Yes, no, er, not necessarily.

The PDC Emulator is supposed to be the DOMAIN Master
Browser (and also the Master Browser for its own subnet.)

Any Windows machine can technically become Master Browser
of a subnet (any other) as long as it is not out-ranked.

General principle is DCs win over non-DCs, Servers over
Workstations, Newer Version over old, longest booted over
shorter time up, and finally Alphabetically.

No. Generally you PDC Emulator (1st DC of domain) will win
all such elections on its subnet and other subnets will be won
by any DCs or servers present there.

Just to add to other good replies you received...
If a computer with a misconfigured firewall is placed on the network,
not only will it usually insist on becoming the master browser, but
once it does it will not perform the roles of a master browser.

Check the machine that took over as master browser for misconfigured
firewalls (e.g. "Zone Alarm" or "Black Ice").

John
