Dear all,

I followed John's suggestion to use the command " Browstat status "

It shows the following message:

Status for domain Workgroups on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{xxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx}

Browsing is active on domain.

Master browser name is: PC1

Could not open key in registry, error = 5
Unable to determine build of browser master : 5
\\\\PC1 . Version:5.01 Flages 71603 NT Potential Backup Master

3 backup servers retrieved from Master PC1

\\PC1
\\PC2
\\PC3

There are 43 servers in domain Workgroups on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{xxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx}
There are 3 domains in domain Workgroups on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{xxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx}

So, how to solve the problem?

Thanks,

tlee

Hi Bobb,

Thanks for your message. It is so useful.

My previous post as below:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear all,

I have the problem of the Internet connection sharing.

I find that all network PCs are disappeared at "View my workgroup computers"
sometimes.
Then I need to reboot the PCs and it can shows again. But it will happen
again later.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem.

P/S: PCs consist of WinXP (SP3), WinMe, Vista(IPv4) and Win7(IPv4)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since, the happen of missing computer in network is so often. Could you
inform me the setting about let all PCs to update their master browser list
themselves while lost the browser list information?

Many Thanks !

After making sure all comps are on the the same workgroup. take the host
computer and check the following.
support.microsoft.com/kb/177078 -
I have had to do this little alteration many times ,I was using four comps
at that time an also depends on the volume
material size you are sharing.

1. Onsite Router ? or just one connection out?
NIC cards are VERY cheap - might save cost of card by savings in having an
"extra PC " always turned on.

2. I haven't used ICS on Win7 yet, so
Do a Google search for
internet connection sharing static ip (IPv4)
and you'll see:
http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/97215-sharing-internet-using-static-ip-ipv4.html
windows 7 we must set ip static (using IPv4) to 192.168.137.1
?????
Otherwise:
3. With 4 pc's sharing an internet connection ...
If one connection, just give them all a static IP and use the host's IP
address
Don't bother with browsing for a NAME
example:
PC1=192.168.0.1 = one with ICS enabled
PC2 =192.168.0.102
PC3=192.168.0.103
PC4=192.168.0.104
PC5=192.168.0.105
and rather than referring to them as PC1, PC2 etc for routing
If
192.168.0.1 is the master than just DEFINE it to be so on the others -
always.
Default Gateway ALWAYS = 192.168.0.1
and make sure all domain names are the same / use MSHOME.NET
