Master browser

I have two W2000 servers and 15-20 windows clients (W98, ME, W2000, XP), and I wanted to force election on one of the XP`s to become master browser for workgroup, but when I changed the IsDomainMaster in Registry on true it still bounces Master Browser function between those two W2000 Servers and XP never gets elected, the reason for doing that is that clients loses their browser lists and then they cant see computers in their network neighbourhood. The reason for doing that on XP is that those servers have some organization specific programs running on them. Any ides would be helpful?

Dominic,

The resolution order for OS version supports using XP as
your master browser:

Windows Server 2003
Windows XP Professional
Windows XP Home
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Professional
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server Enterprise Edition
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 98
Microsoft Windows 95
Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.11

But of course this doesn't always work. The safest way to
get it to beahve the way you want is to disable the
master browser functionality on all the boxes you don't
want doing it, leaving only the XP computer as a
candidate. Directions for doing this on various OS
versions can be found at:

Good luck,
Steve
