Master browser

Could someone answer a question about Master Browser
settings. I have 2 original Win2k GC's that were built
for the network. An additional 5 Win2k servers (GC's)
were installed at remote office locations, only for
authenticating locally at each office (glorified PC's with
no apps installed). My question is this, I am getting
Master browser election issued between the servers. (I
turned off browsing on the PC's already). Should I have
one of the original DC's only set as master browser, of
should each of the remote servers also be enabled as a
master browser? If so, how can I resolve the election
issues in the event log?

i had a simular problem a while back. what i could find is that the election
process go of a rating system based on several different things. the most
important i found were to be the operating system, and the amount of uptime.
my issue was solved by setting the master browser priority to 255 on a
linux samba box that was already in use there. this made the linux box
constantly win each election .

in your case i think it might be better to use a wins server and diferent ip
address subnets. that way each network will get ip adress and netbios
information from the wins server rather than discovery from a master
browser. alternativly i have found it easier to use a small linux box for
this too but microsoft is completly capable of doing this. (actually linux
might complicat thing for you if you hav'nt used it)
