Master Browser error

Hi all - a quick query here.
My company is running a Win2K network (with a legacy novell file server
which we cannot get away from) running active directory on the main Win2K
server.
We have another Win2K server on a seperate segment that is on the same
subnet. This server runs it's own workgroup for that department and is
isolated in so far as no machines outside of it's workgroup can connect to
it.
Recently a new Win2K Pro PC that has I have configured exactly the same as
the others in the department has been giving errors on startup saying that
it should be master browser but has detected another machine that says it is
the master browser. (The department server) The error is repeated several
times before the W2KPro PC gives up and stops trying to make itself the
master browser.
I can't find any reason for this and wasa wondering - could someone shed
some light on it for me please as I'm sure it is something simple I'm
missing.
Thanks in advance,
Pariah

Open regedit on the W2KPro machine, go to
HKLM\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\BROWSER\PARAMETERS
and set the maintainserverlist value to "No". That
machine will never try it again....
