Marquee tag in Outlook 2003 and fancy signatures

Hi!

I've receive an email message with the scrolling text in the signature from
another person. I wanted to recreate one signature for me in the same
manner, however I can't see the scrolling text in my signature but a square
with the red cross inside. I've tried to do the same thing from Outlook
Express and it works just fine. I've read some articles on the internet
saying that Microsoft has disabled marquee tag in html formated email,
however, since I see such scrolling signatures when I receive emails from
others might it mean that there's a kind of workaround to enable sending
emails with signatures using marquee tag? Also, is there any resource
around that would explain how to create some nice and fancy signatures in
Outlook?

Thank you!

In my opinion this sort of stuff is incredibly naff. Call me old-fashioned,
but I've always believed content is what matters.

Any security-conscious person will ALWAYS read their email in plain text, so
regardless of what fripperies you embellish your emails with, they won't see
it.

agree :)

But...
First - this a question of technique. Second, I was asked to create such
signature for marketing dept, which love having things like that. Can
somebody give me a hint on that?

Thank you!

the ones I've seen use CSS. Note that 2003 and 2007 block external content,
such as external style sheets, and not all mail clients will display the
moving text.

Personally Marketing needs to get a clue about email security and user
habits and stick with 'normal' signatures, otherwise they will be back to
you asking why the signature doesn't look right in xxx mail client or in
their gmail/yahoo/other web service acct.

Interesting, neither of you actually answered her question, just said it
wasn't what she wanted to do....but this IS what she is wanting to do, and
interestingly enough, this is what I'M wanting to do as well. So if someone
could let us know how, and not let us know how NOT to do it, that would be
fantastic. Thanks!

1. outlook 2007 and non-ms clients will not display the marquee tag
2. that means you need to use other methods to make it move... I suggested
CSS but JavaScript also works.
3. this is not a CSS or JavaScript support group - you'll need to Google for
CSS code (js is bad for email- many antivirus apps will delete messages
containing js.)
