I'm not sure I follow. To clarify, I created the custom search folder that
was suggested as a solution to this topic, which again is:
file/new/search folder/custom/choose/criteria/time/received/today
This custom search folder produces emails that I received today as well as
emails that I sent today (which are in the "Sent Items" folder obviously). I
guess Outlook considers those emails received today because they were
received by the recipient "today." I'd like it not to include my sent emails
and only those I received.

Yes - don't include the sent folder in the search criteria.

I had the same question actually. dlw, great suggestion, and it
definitely
helps. I was wondering though: is there a way to make the custom search
folder only show mail that I received today and not mail I sent today.? I
get
emails sent to me and emails sent to my whole class (which is one group).
So
selecting it to include only emails with my name in the sent "To:" line
doesn't work.
