Maps

Does anyone know where people get the maps they use in their applications?
I don't mean Mappoint type download per use kind of maps, but the the GPS
applications that you see around. I have been looking at maps of the UK on
the OS website and for 1:10,000 maps the price is extortionate (£18,725 for
1 user and £149,800 for 101+ users for the UK) and yet I can buy a GPS app
for approx. £100 that includes the maps for the UK? Are these map people
actually buying the £140,800 worth of maps and selling several thousand
applications?

Any thoughts?

Hi,

Take a look at my homepage Software Downloads and click on Franson Serial
Tools. Scroll down to Franson GPS Tools, and download a demo. If you
decide this is for you, you can contact me for specific pricing.

Another route might be to use TomTom (there are lots of folks using this:
http://www.tomtom.com/), which has an API e.g.,
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...ype=2&platformId=2&catalog=30&productId=78918
