Mapping Drive From XP to Windows98 SE

B

Bob Cramer

How do I do it? I just pulled an old IBM laptop out of storage and want to
map a drive from my XP Pro machine.

In Windows98 there is apparently no way to share a folder... what to do?

I was able to map from 98 to my XP box, but I want to go the other way so
that I can run NAV from my XP machine on the mapped win98 drive. Apparently
Win98 doesn't have any way to define a share on a folder? Am I missing
something?

Thanks.

Yes, you are missing something. Under Win98 any folder can
be shared as long as File Sharing is activated. The best place
to ask how to do it would be a Win98 newsgroup.

Of course there are ways to share folders and drives. There is a Win98SE
machine in this network and it's no problem to map the drives from WinXP
systems and vice versa.
what to do?

You may want to repost the *exact* problem incl. error messages to
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.win98.networking
