Mapping a Linux drive on my XP machine

Hi,

I want to mount the folder /opt/scripts from my Linux network machine
dave-remote, on my XP system under the Z: drive. However, I can't
seem to get the syntax correct, b/c when I go to My Documents -> Tools
-> Map Network Drive, entering "\\dave-remote\opt\scripts" in the
"Folder" path results in a "The network path \\dave-remote\opt\scripts
could not be found" error. What is the correct way to reference my
Linux drive?

Thanks, - Dave

The syntax looks correct assuming that either the Linux box is on the
same subnet as the Windows machine or you use a WINS server. Otherwise
you might be better off replacing the computer name with an IP address.

For this to work, you must have "Samba" installed, running, and
properly configured on the Linux box. That would be a topic for a
different newsgroup.
