XP mapping network drive

I have a problem when i'm trying to connect my network drive. I use VPN
to establish remote network and i connect to remote drive (that is
usualy the procedure), but the connection to the drive is for some
reason rejected, saying the username or password is incorrect. Mapping
of this drive only works if i delete the mapped drive and when i
connect it again i choose "use different user name" and type the same
username and password. What could i do to fix this?

Connect using the correct username and password the first time.
