Mapped drives

Hi there,

I mapped drives on the network but had to do a reboot and now I can't access
the mapped drives. Now the mapped drives have Disconnected Network Drive next
to them

When I click on the mapped drive letter I get:
An error occured while reconnection Z: to \\servername\folder
Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use
The connection has not been restored

When I try to map the drive again I get
The network path \\servername\foldername could not be found

Any help would be great. Please speak in laymans terms as unless I can see
it I dont always udnerstand.

Can you connect to the server via MyNetworkPlaces? You know how to
disconnect mapped drives using GUI.

Hi Jetro

I disconnected the mapped drives.

I can see the server via the My Network places and all the computers that
are connected. When I click on the Server icon I get the following error
message:

\\server is not accesible. You might not have the permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you
have access permissions. (The permission has been set)

The network path was not found.

thanks for responding

Check if you can connect to any other network shares. Check that nobody else
suffers the same problems as you. Check Event Logs (run eventvwr.msc). Check
if you still have IPC$ share (run *net share* command).
Luck.
