Mapped Drive Won't Disconnect

Windows 2000 sp4 system.
We map the H drive to our users home folder using a login script.
This mapping is \\servername\username$
The script also adds an F: and R: drive

When I open My computer, you see the H drive with a red X, but it doesn't
state "sharename on servername (H:). When you double click on it the
following message box comes up
H:\ is not accessible.
The network path was not found.
The other drives map correctly and I can map a drive to the directory using
a different letter.

Right click disconnect does nothing no error messages.
A "net use" doesn't show an H: drive mapping.
When I check the registry I don't see the H: drive, but I don't see it on my
system either (does that have something to do with the hidden share ($)?).

When I did "net use * /delete" all drives were removed except the H:
If I attempt to remap the H: from a cmd prompt, i get "system error 161"

When I log in with my account, the H: drive appears as above, but when I
attempt to remap it from cmd prompt this time i get "System error 85 has
occurred".

In the event viewer / system i get:
Event ID : 3019
Source MRxSmb
Description: The redirector failed to determine the connection type.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;267934
but that link is worthless.

Any ideas?

This is usually the result of a background process (e.g. a scheduled
task, or a "runas" command) mapping a share in the background,
then not cleaning up. In most cases you have to reboot the machine
to free the problem drive letter.
