Mapped Drive Not Opening on Double Click but on Explore

Hi,
Just bought new Dell Latitudes E6400's to replace old Latitude's and
Optiplexes. We've got server 2003 and a mapped shared drive with staff
resources. Now, the new latitudes were downgraded from vista to windows xp
sp3. We've installed everything, joined the user to the domain, gave him
local admin priveleges, etc.

When we double click on the mappe shared drive (z drive) with staff
resources (located on server) it says access denied, yet by typing Z: in the
URL part of my computer or by right clicking the mouse and selecting explore
the shared drive opens and we can open all files no problem!?!

I found out on web about possibly autorun.inf being within the shared folder
on the server and indeed we found it then deleted it, restarted everything,
but problem still persists. Thing is that the problem is ONLY on new laptops
yet all the old computers open the shared drive no problems.

Am very confused - any ideas?

Thanks.

All sorted. Just had to delete shell and autoplay keys underneath
mountpoints2 in registry (start menu - run - type regedit and then search for
mountpoints2 and then collapse it and look just below for mapped drive link -
delete both shell and autoplay).
