Map drives

Hi,

I have a weird issue where XP seems to map a drive all by itself!! We
have a shared app that runs on a server running 2003. The icon points
to a path on a mapped drive. We recently had a problem where our logon
script wasn't running and therefore the path to the icon didn't exist.
When users clicked on it, a Y drive appeared. Does anyone know if
there is some functionality within XP that will try to map a drive if a
user tries to use a resouce on a drive that no longer exists??

This isn't a problem as we've resolved the logon script issue, but I'm
just curious.

Thanks,

Rich.

It's probably a remembered drive from a previous session.
Start a Command Prompt and type this command to
prevent it from happening:

net use /persistent:no
