Map detail not displaying

I'm running XP using IE.

When I go to www.police.uk/crime for my local area the map detail
(streets/roads) does not display. It will "flash" if I click in the area
but it reverts to a grey scale display with very limited info.

XP/IE fully updated. I've reset IE (but not re-installed) and reloaded
Java. Can anyone help me resolve.

It looks like mainly HTML and Javascript, in the one instance
that worked for me. It doesn't look like updating Java would
help at all. Java is not the same thing as Javascript (.js).

Now, maybe they could have sent different files, like
something ActiveX for IE users. But because they didn't
like my browser version, I'll never know. I don't use things
like IE8 on this computer (maybe on my laptop).
