Manually overwriting older def files with current ones

I would like to install and run MS AS on systems while
disconnected from the network. There currently is a delay
from when new updates are available for automatic or
manual updates and when MS updates the installer with the
latest definition.

What files are updated when you automatically or manually
update MS AS? I assume they are the ones with the
extension *.gcd. Until MS releases an installer with the
latest definition I'll try copying the updated 5689 files
overwriting the 5685 files.
