Manual set up for internet connection

I have just installed Win XP Pro onto a computer, and now I am no longer able to create an internet connection. I open the New Connection Wizard -> Connect to the Internet -> Set up my connection manually -> problem. I need to select 'Connect using a dial-up modem' but the only thing that can be selected on this screen is 'Connect using a broadband connection that is always on'. The modem is installed. There was no problems when the Home Edition of XP was on the computer
If anyone knows of any documents about this problem or just how to fix it, please respond or email.
 
Does anything show up in the Event Log? Are you have you used the modem
diagnostics in Device Manager?
