Mandrake, the world's most popular and easiest to use Linux distro released the first beta version of their upcomming version 9.0 today. New features include KDE 3.0.2 and Gnome 2.0 as well as the implementation of GCC 3.1.1 for compiling applications.

This is definetly a step in the right direction, as GCC 3.x needs to replace 2.9x sooner or later, and it's nice to see Mandrake taking the first step (after Gentoo).

I highly reccomend you download it, if you can avoid the Slashdot effect and get a good server. Get some more information over at the beta site.
