Mandatory Profiles

I am considering setting up my network to use Mandatory
Profiles. I want to easily control the desktop icons and
startmenu for the entire domain, without the hassle of
setting it up on each indevidual user.

However i dont want it to change / apply all of the
profile. I dont want it to change "My Documents", and i
dont want it to change the internet settings or the
favorites list. If i was to apply the profile and everyone
lost the My Docs, alot of work would be lost and it would
be more trouble re-doing it than i would save by using
MAndatory Profiles.

so... what i am asking is, is it possible to set a
mandatory profile, but make it apply to only certain parts
of the profile. i was considering making a network account
to play around on, set it up on a mandatory profile, but
delete some folders from the profile... however I'm not
sure if this will work, or crash the computer.

If anyone has been in this situation or has any helpful
ideas please feel free to post them or mail them to
(e-mail address removed)*nospam*.uk - remove the
*nospam*. this would be very useful as i dont always get a
chance to check back here

Thanks in advance for any help.

Presuming you are using Win2000 do to posting in this
group, you will likely be much happier and more popular
if you use Group Policy to control ONLY those things that
must be standardized and leave the rest to your users'
control or choice.
