Managing Photos on CD

I have had no problems copying folders of photos to CD from my harddrive.

And I can view these photos and folders.

However, when I want to copy any of these photos back to my computer, or if
I were to try to edit a photo, I find that I cannot. I get a message saying
that the photos on the CD are in a read only file. How can I overcome this?

You cannot edit a file on a CD-R. You have to copy the files back to your
hard drive first.
This is usually an easy thing to do.
You click on the file you want to select it (highlight in blue) and then
look at the menu on the left and click on Copy. A window will open for you
to select a folder to copy it to.
If you want to copy all the files, open your CD folder and hold the Ctrl key
down. This will select all the files (highlight in blue) and then click on
the Copy the selected items on the menu on the left.
If this does not work, tell us how you are trying to copy these files to
your hard drive.

One way is use a CD-RW. Files on a CD-R cannot be changed. If the CD has
been closed correctly, they can be replaced provided that there is
sufficient room.
When you copy the file back to your computer, it retains the read only
attribute. What you should do is to remove this attribute.

Thanks for reply....

I spent further time on this issue, and discovered that the problem was that
I could not copy FROM the CD back to the HD to do my editing, etc., simply
because the files on the CD were in "read-only" format.... I didn't realize
that when I was copying or saving the files from my HD to the CD, I was
automatically saving them in "read-only" format.

What I needed to do, and have since done, and tested, was to modify the
attributes of the folder that I was copying to the CD, BEFORE I copied the
folder from my HD to the CD. I accomplished this by R-clicking on the folder
to be copied to the CD, choosing Properties on the menu and making sure that
the "read-only" box was unchecked in the attributes box on the Properties
menu.

This works, and it seems elementary (but it wasn't to me). In fact, it was
so elementary, that you may have assumed I knew this... this explanation may
helps others, too!

Thanks for respondinig!

Sometime, just discussing an issue with somebody helps. Obviously you got
down to business!
