Managing Memory - please help

My question is: will a third party program like Cacheman help my systems
performance?

Specs of my equipment are: XP Pro, P4 2.4 GHz, 1023mb RDRAM total memory,
and 512kb ECC Synchronous ATC L2 on board cache. The front side bus speed is
532MHz data rate and the memory bus speed is 798 MHz data rate.

All of these specs are Greek to me.....BIG TIME. Would someone please steer
me in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance, Rob.

In my experience, programs like these *hurt* performance rather
than help it.

In general, memory-enhancement programs are a crock and in
some cases do more harm than good.

Perhaps you should describe the problem or issue you're
having with system performance. Many times, simply
clearing some of the programs that start automatically at
startup has a big effect on system performance.

You have plenty of RAM unless you're doing fluid-dynamics
or nuclear simulation studies. . .or if you're heavy into
video . . .

Do not use Cacheman nor *any* of the programs that purport to manage or
free up memory. At best they give a spurious impression of 'feel good'.
XP aims to keep all RAM in use all the time, and will drop trivial uses
instantly if a better one comes along. And read up at my page
