Hello XP World. I have a Dell Laptop with XP Professional. I have installed
the new Service Pack 3, but the problem started happening before this
installation.

My mouse and the pointer has stopped working along with my Left Click side
to my mouse. I can no longer select anything and click to execute or open.
Then if my mouse or pointer passed by anything on my screen it selects it!
Boxes around several items at a time will attach. Icons will stick to my
pointer even without me choosing them. The click does not work. Alt keys do
not work. Then like being in quick sand, if I right click and manually press
enter, something might work.

I have restored my system back to dates twice. Now, I believe there could
be something corrupt running or perhaps drivers missing???? I do not believe
it's time to say goodbye to this laptop. And I refuse to ever go Vista.

The Left-click is sticking down. Peck on it a few times, or spray WD-40
on it. When that doesn't free it up, take it to a local dealership, or
just remove the touchpad from Device Manager, and get a mouse to plug
into a PS/2 or USB port. BTW, the Spacebar will select what's
highlighted. The Tab key will bounce to the next item. But with the
button sticking, all bets are off.

Try posting this hardware issue to a hardware NG where the regulars are
more experienced in such matters.

g'luck.
