Making a junk mail rule

Is there a way to set up a rule so that all mail that outlook deems as junk
and places in the junk folder is marked as read and no notification is
placed?

"and no notification is placed" ????
What notification?
The green number next to the Junk Mail folder icon shows the number of items
and not the number of unread items if that is what you are referring to. If
yours doesn't you can change that in the folder properties.
The default Search Folder for Unread Email should also not include the Junk
Email Folder.
I can't see a way to add to the Junk Email Rule via Rules and Alerts.

Is there another way to make junk mail show as read automatically when it
goes into the junk folder?

Maybe by code. I really don't see you reason for it since mail there isn't
counted in Unread Items.

I think I may have the same problem as Otyokwa.

I use Outlook 2007. When I receive spam/junkmail then it automatically moves
to the Junk E-mail folder. But there appears also a "new mail notification"
item (the little envelope). This envelope should not appear for new junkmail.
I made a rule that the junkmail automatically is marked as read, but the
envelope still shows there for new junkmail.

What can I do so that the the envelope does not appear for new junkmail?

Does this happen even if the junk mail message is the only item received?

I've been under the impression that the junk mail filter thread runs prior
to the new mail icon display thread. Perhaps that's not true.
