Making a bootable cd HELP

My notebook hd failed when the battery failed. My problem is I have no
floppy to restore the os. Have win 95, win 98, win 98 se, me & xp pro CD's.
The only one that will boot is xp pro. However, with a 3 gig hd & 233mmx cpu
that is not a good option. so how do I make win 98 se CD bootable? BTW got
the hd formatted & partition magic says its ok.

Well, I am late to this discussion, but let me ask the question in a
slightly different way. I have a Sony laptop that came without a
Windows XP Home CD. It has "recovery CDs" that can be used to
"restore" the system and applications. But on my previous Windows
98se, I was able to make a boot floppy that could be used to start the
computer and browse the hard drive in the event there was a startup
problem. I would like to have such a capability for my Windows XP
system. And my Sony does not have a floppy drive, so most of the stuff
I find from a Google search is of no use to me. And the site with
Barts way to create a bootable CD is so obtuse and requires so much
software that I have been scared off. And other sites seem to be some
sort of illegal "crack" that provide keys, etc.

So, the question is, is there a way to make a bootable CD for my
Windows XP system that is legal, doesn't require a floppy drive and
doesn't require a PHd in computer geek to acomplish?

Regards, jimbo
