make a sound when laptop looses power?

I want to detect when a laptop looses power and make a sound.

I have a power supply that cuts out occasionally. When it does sometime
later the laptop will suddenly shut down without warning. Then when I
restore power and turn it on it displays a message about battery is low plug
in or save several times before I can boot up again.
So I want to detect when I loose power so I can fix it in time.
Any ideas?

You'll need a power supply that works properly and comes with software that
controls it, including a notification for when it's preparing to shut down.

How can a power supply that shuts down without warning notify you?

Oh, the power supply in the laptop itself? Thougt at first you were talking
about an external UPS. Your power supply Needs replacing.

Easier to configure the power applet for the laptop
to warn you of, say, 10% remaining capacity.

All the laptops I have owned have had this capability.
Look in Control Panel>>Power..
