How do I take a slide that I like and convert it to a Slide
Master/Template?

Thanks!

The basic process is pretty simple: On a blank slide, set the layout to
blank (no placeholders, etc.) Do a CTRL -A on the slide to select
everything. Then do a CTRL-C to copy everything. Now, use View--> Master-->
Slide Master to change to the master slides. Finally, do a CTRL-V to paste
the items.

This won't move elements that are inserted as the background. To get those
elements, you will need to view the master slide, right click it, select
Background, and set the background as you desire.

Almost there... the only changes left are to the placeholders themselves.
You will need to format each so that the fonts, colors, etc. look the way
you want.

Now, if you want to make a full up template from your masters, you have a
few more steps to go. For the full details, check out these two articles

The way that I would do it is to save the slide as a one slide presentation,
if that hasn't already been done. Then create a blank presentation (File >
New), go to View > Master > Slide Master and then apply the one slide
presentation as the template (this varies depending on your version of
PowerPoint, but start with Format > Design Template). Still in Master view,
go to File > Save As and select Design Template as the file type and save it
to the default location (this depends on your versions of Windows and
PowerPoint).

Thanks! That worked right off.

Now... How do I add some _permanent_ text to the template? Company
name, etc.?

Thanks!
