Is there a freeware similar to a shareware called Filelock.

Description:
"File Lock is a security software that can lock and/or hide your files,
folders and drives. It can prevent access to any of your files, folders
or drives. File Lock also supports to hide files and folders, to make
them complete invisible. The locked items will be denied access, move and
deletion, the hidden items will not be found by any program or the
Windows Explorer.
File Lock is very easy to use, just choose the "Lock File...", "Lock
Folder...", "Lock Drive..." right click menu item to lock any item on
your computer,
click "Modify" to modify any locked item, select the "Hide this item"
option to hide the selected item. Click "Unlock" button to unlock the
selected item. "

Here are its features of interest to me:

- Hidden files/folders:
File Lock can lock files, folders and drives, but this is not enough, it
also can hide files and folder as you want. the hidden files/folders can
not be access and people even can not find them!

- Kernel mode protection:
File Lock use the kernel mode protection which was called "Low level
driver", it will not be terminated.

- Easy to use interface:
File Lock is very easy to use, you can just click the "Lock" button in
the toolbar, then choose any file, folder or drive to be locked or
hidden.

- Password protection:
File Lock can be password protected so that none can access the settings
without the password. File Lock also password protects the uninstaller,
so people also can not uninstall it without the correct password."

Check out pgpdisk

It works fine on XP as long as you select the Fat32 version which doesn't
mean you have to have a FAT32 filesystem. It allows you to mount a file as a
drive and you can't mount the drive unless you enter a password. So far I've
found it to be great.
