Major shut down and hanging problems - Need Help!

I run XP Pro and have 2 user accounts set up. I basically can not shut down
or go into standby mode without the computer hanging and eventually forcing
me to hold down the power button to shut the computer down. This problem
only started to occur after the second user account was set up and was in
regular use. For example, after start up and logging in to only one user
account I can usually shut down or go into stand by mode without problems.
As soon as the second account is active all of the problems begin to occur.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Did You activate the guest account? this might help (guest account is independant of any other ; what are the privileges of the second account you created? administrator?
