When looking at anywebsite, and I click on a link that opens a new window or
I tell it to open new window, the main window closes. This gets very
upsetting seeing how I have to retype address. I have looked through IE
options and can find no reference to this problem. Any help would be nice.
Thanks.

Look here:
IE>tools>internet options>advanced>browser section>remove check mark from
'reuse windows for launching shortcuts'>apply/ok

Clear cache, cookies, and history. Make sure the system time is correct.
Try again.

Mac,
Thank you for your time. However, when I click a link, a new window does
open, but when it does, the main window goes to the task bar then closes. I
did look at your suggestion, and there was no check mark.
Thanks anyway.

Norman,
Thank you for your reply. However, all cookies, temp internet files, and
cache are cleared daily. System time is correct also.
I have no idea why it would start doing this. Started about 1 week ago. I
always goto the same sites (not a surfer). Virus scan, Zone Alarm, and
spyware always running, so I am at a loss as to tell you anything I have done
differently.
Thanks.

This symptom has been associated by others with popular third-party
toolbars. Try removing any such add-ons.
