Mail viewing pane

When I open Outlook 2002, my inbox is displayed on the top and the
highlighted message is displayed on the bottom. Is there a way to display
the inbox on the left side of the screen and have the emails viewed on the
right side of the screen, instead of having one above the other?

Not in Outlook 2002. That feature began with Outlook 2003.
